Format text and add links

Updated 26 July 2026

Longer text fields - a Text widget's body, an event write-up, a convoy description, a hero tagline - have a small toolbar above them. Anything you format there shows up formatted on your site.

  • Bold, italic and underline
  • Bullet and numbered lists
  • Links
  • Remove All Formatting (the crossed-out A) strips a field back to plain text

Short one-line fields like a button label or a card title are plain text only.

Line breaks

Any field you can type more than one line into - a section description, an FAQ answer, a feature card's blurb, your club description in Settings - keeps your line breaks. Press Enter where you want a new line and that's how it renders on your site. Leave a blank line between two blocks of text and you get a paragraph gap.

Blank lines above or below the text itself get tidied away when you save - spacing between sections comes from your theme, so you can't nudge it with the Enter key.

Turning words into a link

Select the words you want people to click, then hit the chain button in the toolbar. Type or paste the address and press Enter.

The chain button stays greyed out until you've selected something - a new link always wraps words you've chosen, so there's nothing to add one to otherwise.

You don't need the full https:// - motorev.uk works fine. To point somewhere on your own site, use the path instead: /events.

Changing or removing a link

Click anywhere in a link you've already made, then hit the chain button. It opens with the current address filled in, ready to change, and a broken-chain button next to it removes the link. Removing a link keeps the words, it just stops them being clickable.

Links to other websites open in a new tab so visitors don't lose your page.
