Use shortcodes

Updated 9 July 2026

Shortcodes are little {{tokens}} you drop into widget text that resolve to live club data on your site. Write once, never update again:

Founded in {{founded_year}} - {{upcoming_event_count}} events coming up

…renders as "Founded in 2019 - 4 events coming up", and the count updates itself as you publish events.

Adding one

On any supporting text field in the page builder or Header & Footer editor, click the Add Shortcode button (the curly-brackets icon) and pick from the categorised list, or just type the token by hand. In the editor it displays as a neat pill - hover it to see the current value. On your site, visitors see the value.

What's available

  • Club identity - club name, description, founder, founded year, years active
  • Contact & social - contact email/phone, each social profile address
  • Counts & stats - upcoming and total event counts, route count, Facebook followers/likes/rating
  • Next event - title, date, location, days until
  • General - the current year (nice for footer copyright lines)

Most values come from Club Settings, so keep those filled in - a token with no value simply renders nothing (its pill turns amber in the editor to warn you).

Where they work

The prose-like fields: headings, taglines, descriptions, banner and countdown text, the footer tagline and copyright, the header announcement. Pills and the picker don't appear inside repeating list items (like individual FAQ rows), but a hand-typed token there still resolves on your site.
