Page visibility and passwords

Updated 12 July 2026

Every page except the home page is in one of three states, set from the dropdown on the page's detail screen.

Published

Live for everyone. Appears in menus that link to it and in search engines.

Draft

Admin-only. The address returns "not found" and menu links to it are hidden from the public nav until it's published.

Private

Visitors hit a password screen before they can read the page. Choosing Private reveals a Page Password field - a shared access code (at least 8 characters) you hand out to the people who should get in, like paid-up members.

  • The code is shared, not per-person. Change it any time to cut off access - anyone with the old code is asked for the new one.
  • Links to a private page still appear in your navigation so members can find it; the gate appears when the page is opened.
  • Once someone unlocks a page, their browser stays unlocked.
  • Use the generate button for a strong random code and the copy button to share it.

To gate the whole site rather than one page, see Make your site private.
