Page visibility and passwords

Updated 9 July 2026

Every page (except the home page) is in one of three states, set from the dropdown on the page's detail screen:

Published

Live on your club site for everyone. Appears in navigation menus that link to it and in search engines.

Draft

Admin-only. The page doesn't exist as far as visitors are concerned - its address returns "not found", and any menu links to it are hidden from the public nav until it's published.

Private

The page is on your site, but visitors hit a password screen before they can read it. Choosing Private reveals a Page Password field - a shared access code (at least 8 characters) you hand out to the people who should get in, like paid-up members.

A few notes on how private pages behave:

  • The code is shared, not per-person - everyone uses the same one. Change it any time to cut off access; anyone with the old code will be asked for the new one.
  • Links to a private page still appear in your navigation, so members can find it; the gate appears when the page is opened.
  • Once someone unlocks a page, their browser stays unlocked - they won't be asked again on every visit.
  • Use the generate button next to the field for a strong random code, and the copy button to share it.

Want to gate the whole site rather than one page? See Make your site private.
